Salt Spring’s trails are a springtime feast for the eyes. The new growth seems astounding this year.
GISPA students can enter the program any year at GISS (grades nine through twelve)
Eve is in grade nine.
So Under the Rainbow will be her first GISPA show.
A delightful trail leaving the Gary Oak meadows, up through towering, open Douglas Fir forests, down across a noisy stream, up past the spot pictured then though tall salal to the junction at trail #4.
Not many GISPA students have just one roll. GIA is a GISPA dancer, but in Under the Rainbow, she apparently also plays an evil witch. That should be interesting.
She came to her session with lots of ideas. Like a pro model, Gia moved to a pose, held it for the shot, then smoothly moved on to the next with no input from me. We shot about 20 frames per minute. She had a dozen photos of this quality in the first two minutes.
The harsh backlight of sun popping out between clouds, combined with the intense green of spring growth, reveals all kinds of detail and patterns in the Burgoyne Valley.
