If you are looking for information or a recommendation on the Ucluelet area hike to the huge golf-ball like radar station atop Mount Ozzard, you’re not going to find it here.
What you will see up there—when the low clouds and/or fog aren’t entirely enveloping both you and the vista—is a drone’s eye view of Ucluelet, Pacific Rim National Park, Barkley Sound, some broken islands and a whole bunch of ocean.
You will walk up and back down the mountain along a four wheel drive service road (the kind of road we’re more used to driving up…). 14 kilometres.
Fun fact: there are 62 numbered hydro poles along the walk!
Watch for bear poop and don’t believe the locals if they tell you there is a restaurant at the top.
