A northern view taken near the Goat Peak fire lookout above Mazama, Washington. Access is via a 3.3 mile trail which gains 1500 feet in elevation. The Larch trees were beginning to put on their fall show on this spectacular day.
The fire lookout building was still wrapped in a fire resistant material the day we visited.
A delightful trail leaving the Gary Oak meadows, up through towering, open Douglas Fir forests, down across a noisy stream, up past the spot pictured then though tall salal to the junction at trail #4.
